Engineering Explorers: A Journey Through Innovation
In late February, 52 students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki went on a trip to Germany, the heart of automotive innovation. Under the guidance of their professor Christos Vlachokostas and led by Άγγελος Φανουράκης, they visited car manufacturers in Munich and Stuttgart, delving into German engineering.
Their journey began in Ingolstadt, where they saw Audi’s facilities and then visited BMW Museum and BMW Welt. In Stuttgart, they went to Porsche museum, Mercedes-Benz factory and also visited IAV Automotive Engineering and the Schaeffler factory in Herzogenaurach. Each place gave them insights into the mix of tradition and modern engineering.
The trip, led by students and supported by ALFA Travel, showed how hands-on learning is important. It was an example of how working with industry leaders can inspire the next generation of engineers.
Looking back on this trip, we are impressed by the students’ passion and the connections they made in the automotive world. It’s a strong reminder of the possibilities that come when curiosity meets opportunity.
